HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I thought it might be time to update the old blog so everyone has something to read about! It has been a little while since I last posted so I will try to bring you all up to date. :)

Over the past year, I moved downstairs to a different apartment more to my liking. One of daughters and her boyfriend that had lived there had a baby last spring and moved out to a bigger place so I took it over in October. The designer in me went to work and over the past few months in between work and the holidays, I now have finished painting every room in the place.. a nice mixture of greens, blues and chocolate brown. My dad even came out and helped install too shelves for me for some extra storage…

Along with the apartment projects, I started to play soccer again in the fall and love it!! I am now playing on an over-30 women’s league & a coed league. I still can’t believe that I am old enough to be on the over-30′s league but it feels good to be back on the field and see some old friends and make new ones. I also took a few classes at WCTC this past fall.. a lean manufacturing class for work and two framing and matting classes. I got to know a good group of ladies and hope to take another framing class with them in March. I am in the process of starting up my own side business “DAISYON Design Center” which focuses mainly on photography and framing. I have always talked about my own design business but didn’t quite know which direction to go until I took these classes. I fell in love with it and can’t wait to get my own equipment and to get back for some more experience! It will be a slow process as I work on it in my free time but it thrills me and I have an abundance of design ideas to play with. Sooooo… if you have anything that needs to get framed… let me know!

Other than that, I am still working at Dedicated Computing in Waukesha and fortunately have FINALLY been moved from my old assignment on the manufacturing floor to Design Engineering where I have been working as a Solidworks (3-D modeling) Support Engineer for the past week or two. It is temporary at this point but looks promising to turn into something permanent in the future. Keep your fingers crossed for me!! :)

In other news, if you haven’t heard… I won the Harmelink Family Cribbage tournament this year. I lost to Uncle Darryl last year in the championship round but this year I finally won it. I have to get my name engraved on the trophy yet but it being proudly displayed atop my bookshelf!

As you can tell by the pics, I am also in the process of growing my hair out again.  It was fun to have in short for the past couple years but decided to grow it out for a while and it would be nice to be able to pull it back in a ponytail or clip once again. Other that that… geeez… so many things… I sold Christmas trees on a lot down in Chicago for a weekend in December, saw the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, had lot of adventures with family & friends, had pneumonia & sinusitis for while last September, had the tire blow out on my car, have gone out dancing & ice skating, learned how to correctly use a stud finder, went to visit cousins in Madison, went to a Packer game, spent yet another Fourth of July, Thanksgiving & Christmas with my family (which I missed when I was in CO), dated a few crazy men that made me see the pleasures of being single, and have just been just keeping myself busy! As a New Year’s resolution, I am trying to keep up with my blogs… at least once a month to keep everyone updated. We’ll see how it goes…. :)

My green thumb!!

SO, my dad would be proud. HAHA I have made a few trips to Fleet Farm and to the new Mega-Menards lately. The new Menards is HUGE and even has a moving walkway between the first and second floors that moves you and your cart around! As I said in my last post, I have been busy making over my apartment into my own little cheery space.  Well, this included repotting and potting my houseplants. A lot of them were getting too big for their pots so I went and got some bigger pots, some potting soil and a couple new baby plants.  When I was finally finished, I realized I know had 17 plants and had to find places for them all!! About half of them are in my kitchen window, some more on my book shelf, a few in the living room window and two on top of my filing cabinet. I also tried out these new water globe things (as seen on tv) and they work great! I was thinking I should get a few for some of my sisters who have a hard time keeping their plants alive! HA HA :)   They had them on sale at the grand opening of the Menards for $1.99 I figured I had to try one out. SO I will keep an eye out for when they go on sale again and probably get a few more sometime. Here are a few pics of some of the plants.

YEAH!! Well, now I have to head out and drive up north for the weekend. Since it is Friday, I have the day off and don’t have to be back to work until Monday afternoon. Hope everyone has a HAPPY EASTER!!

It’s April already!!

Geeeez… have I been behind on the bloggin or what?? Time to update!! It’s April already!! I’m waiting patiently for the warm weather. We have had a couple of nice days and have gone out for a few bike rides but it is pretty chilly today and they are forcasting  snow but we haven’t seen it yet! THings are going well here. Still working at Dedicated Computing on second shift. They had to do a couple of layoffs and we are only working 32 hour work weeks but I still have my job and benefits.  It sounds like I will be moving back to first shift within the next couple of months. Not looking forward to the early mornings again but it will be nice to enjoy the summer nights.  I interviewed for a part-time job as well serving at the Oconomowac Hilton.  My neighbor works there and I interviewed with him so chances are pretty good that I will get the job. :) It will only be one or two nights a week but it will be extra money and that is always good.  I will update in the next blog what happens with that one.

Otherwise, I have been working on making my apartment my own cheery little place.  I have finally gotten a small sofa sleeper that fits nicely in my little living room area (my nice leather couch was just a little too big to fit through the doors!)  I have also been hanging pictures and putting up curtains and all that fun stuff. Now I am looking for a new corner desk.  This has been a little difficult given the space it needs to fit into. The only one I have found that fits is at IKEA and the box was too big to fit in the car when I was there last week and so I looked it up online but they only sell it at their stores. Go figure!! I will keep searching or hopefully find someone that has a truck and is willing to drive back down to Shaumburg with me!! HAHA

I had a very nice weekend with watching the Admirals game on Friday night and then having lunch on Saturday with Steph & Ethan and the girls, Christine & the kids, and our friends Gretchen & Danielle Marks. I have another short work week coming up and then will be traveling up north to spend Easter with my parents.  I haven’t been up in a while so I am looking forward to getting out of town for a bit. I will post some more pics soon!! Take care and have a happy Easter everyone!!

My monthly blog!!

As you can tell, I haven’t been keeping up on my blog as often as I had planned!! So… Happy December!! Many things have been happening.  I am still working on second shift but the environment has gotten much better.  I am even starting to get along with some of my co-workers!! That’s always good! HA HA We had our Christmas Party last weekend which was very nice! It was at the Sheraton here in Brookfield. They had drinks, music and a dinner of either steak/shrimp or stuffed chicken. I even won a door prize (bottle of wine, chocolates, and a DC apron all in a cute red and white snowflake tote)!! I went with a friend of mine and we had a splendid time. We even danced to a few songs!! Here are a few pics:

And it’s now November

Time for an update.

As most of you know now, I have started working 2nd shift and will continue for the winter months.  As I am such a night owl, I love the change of hours and not having to get up soooo early in the morning!! It will especially nice when the temps drop and the snow starts falling!  Unfortunately though, the transition has been a little rocky as there are a lot of changes being made because of me.  I am rockin’ the boat a bit because I won’t settle for the “that’s how we do it on second shift” behavior and work environment.  Hopefully things will turn around over the next few weeks. Cross your fingers!!

Otherwise, all is good.  Still settling into the Sussex apartment, getting to know my neighbors, dating some guys, visiting friends & family, working out, and catching up on my blogging.  :)

Below is a pic from Grandma’s birthday that I have been meaning to post.

And here are a few from Halloween.  I was Trinity from the movie “The Matrix.” I was talked into dressing up for our “Spooktacular” day at work and am glad that I did.  I won 3rd place in our costume contest and won $30!!

10 things I have learned since moving to Sussex

1) I should really label my boxes better the next time I move!  I currently have a TV & DVD player but no cables to connect them, DVD holders with no shelves, half of a stereo system, half of my CD rack, etc…  HA HA Luckily, I will be up to get the last few boxes from storage next weekend.  :)

2) Apparently, an 8-foot couch does not fit through the 28″ by 76″ doorway to my apartment!  SO, now I have two old rolling office chairs in my TV area  - not quite as comfy as my couch!

3) When painting your room a nice gray-blue color, make sure to watch your head!  I gave myself a few gray hairs that I haven’t been able to wash out!!  :)

4) When shopping the local Piggly-Wiggly, be ready for the dairy section to MOOOOO at you whenever you try to get a gallon of milk or a stick of butter!  It is really kind of wierd but yet funny.  I almost dropped everything I was holding the first time I was MOOOOO’d at!  HA HA

5) I found there is another Susan Bosman in the Sussex area. (Or at least one that uses the Sussex library - I had a little trouble getting a library card!)

6) I found the train will go by at random times every day… but almost always when you are in a hurry to get somewhere!  Reminds me of back in the day up in Gresham waiting for the train! :)

7) When frequenting the Sussex laundramaut, make sure to test the washers FIRST.  I spent half a roll of quarters and 4 things of soap to wash one load of clothes.  Aren’t laundramauts wonderful!

8) My brothers are awesome!  Joel and Tom helped move all the big stuff into my new place (except the couch of course!)

9) I learned that next time I need to hook up the internet BEFORE I move in.  I finally got connected today but have been using the library otherwise – when it has been open!

10) And lastly, I’ve learned that if I need to… I can get up at 6:25am and still shower and make it to work by 7:00am!!

GO BREWERS!!

SO, I finally went to my first Brewer game since being back in Wisconsin!! YAY!  It was a lot of fun especially since we won the game!  They were playing the Nationals so we got to witness Bernie slide down his slide and the big homerun fireworks shows quite a few times! I took my brother Tom who, of course, drove in on his Harley for the game.  We got preferred Harley parking right in front of Miller Park which was awesome! :)   After the game, we were on the road half-way home while everyone else was still stuck trying to get out of the parking lot.  Hee Hee

Here are a few pics from the night…

We got caught in a little downpour on the way to the game. This is the first time Tommy has gotten caught in the rain on his new Harley so we had to document it!  :)

Of course, the weather was gorgeous AFTER we got to the game! This is our view from our “DC” seats behind 3rd base!!

Tom was sporting the Brewers gear… but since I didn’t have any, I opted for a Harley shirt instead!! :)

Day IN and Day OUT

Just thought I would post a few more pics while I am at it.  :)

Here I am getting ready for work!

If you haven’t recieved the news, I have been officially hired on to the company I was working on contract for.  Yea!  Now I have a little more job security and benefits and all that… which is nice.  :) We’ll see where it takes me!

Below is a picture from Shawano, WI taken at “Classics” restaurant.  One of my best friends, Robin (from back in the day) now owns and runs this fine dining establishment!  It is themed on the classics of rock and the decor consists of guitars and pictures of music legends.  If you are ever up that way, stop in and enjoy!

In the picture with me are Robin’s sisters who I am also close with.  Nicole (in the middle) runs the kitchen and is an amazing chef and Melanie (on the right) takes care of the accounting and helps run the bar.

My first SPIN class!

Okay, so I can feel my SIL Jess’s pain.  I have been in a rut and haven’t felt like blogging much lately.  I like to blog when I am feeling happy and stress-free and have memories to share with everyone.  Fortunately, today just happens to be one of those days!

With motivation from Jessica, I have been trying to get back in shape and lose the 40 “studying” pounds that I gained over the last few years in CO.  I have been doing good at watching what I eat and now am trying to focus on the excercise part of it.  I picked up a trial membership at the WAC (Wisconsin Athletic Club) and tried out a Yoga class earlier this week and went to my first spin class this morning!  Now, I have always been a little intimidated by spin classes.  It was always kind of spooky watching all of those people sweating and pedaling away in the dim light of a studio.  But, this gym offered a “try it” spin class for beginners so I decided to TRY IT! It ended up that I was the only one was in the class which was great because I got a one-on-one 45minute session!  It was awesome!  Now I know why my sister Lisa enjoys it so much.  I signed up for another class on Wednesday!

Happy July!!

Yes, I am a little behind on the whole blogging thing.  :)
I have just been so busy!

SO, here is the update…..

I am currently dring a “new to me” car.  It is a ’94 Toyota Corolla.  It is a little older but is in good shape and is great on gas for my commute to work.  And it has four doors that open and AC.  It works for me!!  LOL

Other than that, I am living with my sister Christine in Greenfield, WI.  My parents were so helpful and came down a few weeks ago to help “prepare” my room.  It is nice to be so close to family again!!  :)   This past weekend was wonderful.  We had a BBQ, a graduation celebration, fireworks, and of course the great Gresham parade!!  It was really a good time.  My sisters Lisa and Christine already have nice posts with pics but I have to add my own here… of MY ride with Tommy on his Harley!!  It was smoooooooooooth!!

In other news, I was finally able to get some short-term health insurance.  As most of you know, I have been having some gastrointestinal/digestive problems for quite some time now.  I went in to the doc at the end of June and have a colonoscopy scheduled already for the 18th of July (next Friday.)  This is not a procedure that I am necessarily looking forward to (yikes) but will be happy and relieved to get some answers.  I will keep you all updated when I know more. Have a happy Wednesday!!

Here is another pic that I haven’t got the chance to post yet.  :)
